St. Mark’s Lutheran Church was founded in Flat Rock, Michigan in 1953 as a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. The church was established in this community to hold out the Gospel of Jesus Christ as the only source of life and salvation.
For this reason, our church has adopted the following mission statement, which can often be seen posted around the church building:
The continuing purpose of this congregation is to sustain a gathering of Christians, who will worship the Triune God and serve all people in God’s world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ on the basis of the Holy Scriptures.
(Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15)
To pursue this mission, it is imperative that we hold to the truths of God’s Word in their entirety. For this reason, we confess and maintain all truths expressed under the “What we Believe” tab. As we seek to serve others with the Gospel, we also emphasize continual growth in faith, offered through the Means of Grace, including Sunday Bible Class (see the “Christian Education” tab for more details). This enables us, then, to be faithful witnesses of Christ to our family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers.
We look forward to having you come and worship with us!
